Our products are made according to dimensional standards of ASME B16.5, ASME B16.47 (Series A and Series B), ASME B16.36, AWWA C207, DIN, and EN 1092 in carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and ductile iron from sizes NPS 1/2” to NPS 60” and pressure class 150 through 2500

Types of Flange:

Weld Neck Flange-

  • Long tapered hub, butt welded to the pipe

  • Bore matches pipe ID for unrestricted flow

  • Gradual stress transfer from flange to pipe wall

  • Suited for high pressure, high temperature, and cyclic loading service

Socket Weld Flange-

  • Pipe end inserts into a machined counterbore in the hub

  • Fillet-welded at the hub, smooth internal bore

  • No weld root exposed inside the flow path

  • Used mainly on small bore, high pressure piping

Slip On Flange-

  • Slides over the pipe end

  • Fillet welded on both inside and outside

  • Easier alignment and lower cost than weld neck flanges

  • Suited to moderate pressure service, up to Class 600

Screwed Flange (Threaded Flange)-

  • Internal NPT/BSPT threads

  • Screws directly onto matching pipe threads

  • Requires no welding

  • Used on low pressure lines and welding restricted locations

Blind Flange-

  • Solid, unbored plate with no center hole

  • Bolts onto a pipe end, valve, or vessel opening

  • Seals the line off completely

  • Removable for future tie ins, testing, or maintenance access

Lap Joint Flange-

  • Loose flange paired with a separate butt-welded stub end

  • Only the stub end contacts the process fluid

  • Rotates freely for quick bolt-hole alignment

  • Suited for piping requiring frequent dismantling

Description

Raised Face (RF)

Standard gasket contact surface raised above the bolt circle

Flat Face (FF)

Full flange face flush with bolt circle, matched to cast iron mating flanges

Ring Type Joint (RTJ)

Machined groove for a metallic ring gasket, used on high pressure/high temperature service

Male Female (MF) / Tongue Groove (TG)

Interlocking facing for improved gasket alignment and seating


Material Grades:

Design Considerations:

  • Bolt holes spacing, bore size, and hub thickness according to the schedule and pressure rating of the mating pipe

  • ASME B46.1 surface finish for gasket seat surface (Ra 125-250 for RF flanges)

  • Pressure temperature ratings as per ASME B16.5 Table 2 based on the material group specified

  • Corrosion allowance and NACE MR0175/MR0103 compliance available for sour service applications

  • Post weld heat treatment and full radiography available for high pressure and low temperature carbon steel flanges

Bolting & Torque Guidance:

  • Bolts based on ASTM A193 (Standard Grade B7, B16 for elevated temperatures, B8/B8M for stainless applications); nuts based on ASTM A194 (Grade 2H, 7, 8/8M to correspond)

  • Length of the bolts such that 1-2 threads protrude from under the nuts; washers are installed to avoid galling 

  • Tightened using a criss cross (or star) tightening sequence, not one that moves in succession around the circumference 

  • Torqueing is done in stages: 30%, 60%, 100%, and then a final tightening by the circumferential method

  • Target torque based on bolt size, material, and gasket type, per ASME PCC-1 guidelines

  • Calibrated torque wrenches or tensioning tools used anti seize/lubricant applied to threads for accurate torque to tension conversion

  • Uneven or sequential tightening is the leading cause of flange joint leaks
