Plunger Valve manufacturer in USA
SVR Global manufactures plunger valves engineered for accurate flow regulation, pressure reduction, and cavitation resistant throttling in high pressure pipeline systems across the United States. Built for dam bottom outlets, hydro power stations, water treatment plants, and industrial process lines, our plunger valves provide linear flow characteristics and stable operation where conventional isolation valves cannot deliver controlled regulation.
Working Principle of a Plunger Valve:
A cylindrical plunger (piston) moves axially inside the valve body, sliding forward and backward along the flow centerline
Flow passes through an annular chamber around the fixed internal cage or seat ring
Axial movement of the plunger varies the effective flow area, giving a linear, near-proportional relationship between stroke and flow rate
The flow passage is progressively reduced from inlet to outlet, raising velocity and dropping pressure in a controlled manner
Internal cage or sleeve ports are shaped to break up the flow stream, dissipating energy and suppressing cavitation, noise, and vibration
A balanced upstream/downstream pressure design allows actuation with comparatively low operating torque
The plunger seals against a resilient or metal seat at full closure, providing tight shutoff in addition to modulating control

Design and Construction Features:
Single piece, compact valve body in ductile iron (ASTM A536 Gr. 65-45-12), cast steel, or stainless steel
Internal cage/sleeve and plunger surfaces in stainless steel for erosion and corrosion resistance
Anti cavitation trim with multi stage or multi port flow restrictors for high pressure-drop service
Electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic actuation for automated flow and level control
Manual gear operated versions available for smaller sizes and lower-duty applications
Flanged end connections per ANSI/ASME B16.1, B16.42, or AWWA C207
Nominal sizes typically ranging from 4 in. to 64 in., with larger custom sizes engineered on request
Fusion bonded epoxy interior/exterior coating for buried and submerged installation
Technical Performance Parameters:
Linear opening to flow characteristic for accurate, repeatable throttling
Maximum outlet flow velocity typically limited to 9 m/s for mid line installation and 15 m/s for end of line discharge
Suitable for high differential pressure service where standard globe or gate valves would cavitate or erode
Designed to operate free of stem seizing from sediment, scaling, or debris in the flow stream
Constant accuracy flow or pressure regulation across a defined operating range
NSF/ANSI 61 compliant design available for potable water contact, with self-flushing geometry that limits stagnant water pockets
Plunger Valve Applications:
Dam and reservoir bottom outlet flow control and emergency drawdown
Hydro power plant turbine bypass and spillway flow regulation
Water treatment plant inlet pressure reduction and flow metering
Raw water transmission main pressure management
Pump station discharge throttling and surge control
