Triple Duty Valve manufacturer in USA

A Triple Duty Valve combines three separate functions into a single valve body installed on the discharge side of centrifugal pumps, a shut off valve, a non slam silent check valve, and a calibrated flow balancing/measuring valve. This multi function design eliminates the need to install and maintain three separate valves in a pump set, reducing mechanical room footprint, material cost, and installation labor.

How a Triple Duty Valve Operates:

  • Shut off Function: A handwheel operated disc allows isolation of the pump for maintenance without draining the entire system.

  • Check Valve Function: A spring loaded disc closes automatically when flow reverses, preventing backflow and water hammer at pump shutdown.

  • Balancing/Metering Function: The disc position is calibrated against a graduated indicator scale, allowing flow rate to be set and verified using differential pressure ports without a separate balancing valve.

Body Materials and Construction:

  • Cast Iron (ASTM A126 Class B) - for low pressure water circulation systems

  • Ductile Iron (ASTM A536) - for water utility and pump discharge applications

  • Carbon Steel (ASTM A216 WCB) - for higher pressure and industrial duty

  • Stainless Steel (ASTM A351 CF8/CF8M) - for corrosive or high purity fluid service

  • Bronze fitted trim with EPDM/Buna-N soft seat for tight shutoff

  • Stainless steel stem and spring for corrosion resistance and consistent closure

Design and Manufacturing Standards:

  • Body Design: ASME B16.34

  • Face to Face Dimensions: ASME B16.10

  • Flanged End Dimensions: ASME B16.1 (Class 125), ASME B16.5 (Class 150–300)

  • Testing: API 598 hydrostatic and seat leakage test

  • Flow Coefficient (Cv): Sized per ASHRAE flow velocity recommendations for low-noise operation

  • Energy Compliance: ASHRAE 90.1 flow balancing requirements for pump system commissioning

Pressure, Temperature and Size Range:

  • Pressure Rating: Class 125 to Class 300 (125 psig to 300 psig, non-shock)

  • Temperature Rating: Up to 250°F (121°C)

  • Size Range: 2" to 14" (DN50 to DN350)

  • End Connections: Flanged, grooved, or threaded

  • Cracking Pressure: As low as 1/4 psi for low resistance check function

Actuation Options:

  • Handwheel Operation: Standard on most sizes for manual shut off and balancing adjustment, with a graduated position indicator for repeatable settings

  • Gear Operator: Available on larger valve sizes to reduce operating torque and allow controlled, incremental adjustment during commissioning

  • Chain Wheel Operation: Offered for valves installed at height or in locations with limited direct access

  • Locking Devices: Position locking provisions available to secure the balancing setting after commissioning and prevent unauthorized adjustment

  • Actuation is selected based on valve size, installation location, and the degree of adjustment precision required during system balancing

Key Design Features:

  • Center guided disc for consistent, leak free seating

  • Graduated position indicator for visual confirmation of balancing setting

  • Differential pressure ports on both sides of the seat for flow measurement

  • Field replaceable seats and O-rings without special tooling

  • Non slam spring closure to reduce water hammer on pump trip or shutdown

  • Compact two valve replacement geometry that also eliminates the need for separate elbow or tee fittings at the pump discharge

Testing and Quality Control:

  • Hydrostatic shell test

  • Seat leakage test per API 598

  • Dimensional inspection per ASME B16.10

  • Material Test Certificate (MTC) per EN 10204 3.1

  • Cv flow verification testing

Triple Duty Valve Application Areas:

Triple Duty Valves manufactured by SVR Global are supplied for:

  • Chilled water and hot water circulation systems in commercial buildings

  • Water and wastewater utility pump stations

  • District energy and central plant piping

  • Industrial process water circulation

  • Fire pump test loop balancing (where permitted by code)

Custom Manufacturing Capabilities:

SVR Global manufactures custom triple duty valves to match exact project specifications, offering body materials in cast iron, WCB carbon steel, CF8M/F316 stainless steel, and ductile iron, sizes from 2" to 20", pressure ratings up to PN25 / 375 psi, and operating temperatures up to 250°F. Valves can be configured in straight, angle, or wafer patterns with center guided, non slam check designs and convertible bodies for field flexibility, and every unit is hydrostatically tested and manufactured in line with API, AWWA, and ASME standards to meet the demands of EPC contractors, consultants, and plant operators across power, water, and industrial applications.
