SVR Global

Diaphragm Valve Manufacturer in USA

A Diaphragm Valve is a linear motion valve used to start, regulate, and stop fluid flow. SVR Global manufactures a unique diaphragm valve because it uses a flexible membrane, which is the diaphragm, to separate the moving parts of the valve from the fluid being handled. This design makes it an ideal choice for systems that require high purity or involve abrasive and corrosive materials, as the fluid never comes into contact with the stem or bonnet.

How does a Diaphragm Valve work?

The diaphragm valve operates using a simple compress and seal mechanism. A flexible diaphragm is connected to a compressor. When the valve handle is turned, the compressor pushes the diaphragm down against the bottom of the valve body. This action closes the flow path. When the valve is opened, the compressor lifts, and the diaphragm’s natural elasticity or the fluid pressure raises it back up, clearing the path for the fluid to pass through.

Materials and Construction

The choice of materials is critical since the diaphragm valve must be both flexible and durable:

  • Valve Body: Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, Stainless Steel (CF8M), or specialized plastics like PVC and PVDF.
  • Body Linings: To handle aggressive chemicals, bodies are often lined with Glass, Rubber, PFA, or PTFE.
  • Diaphragm: Made from resilient materials such as EPDM, Butyl rubber, Neoprene, or PTFE supported by a rubber backing.

Types of Diaphragm Valve

  • Weir Type Diaphragm Valve: Features a raised “hump” or weir in the flow path. It is best for throttling and provides a tight seal with minimal force.
  • Straight-Through Type Diaphragm Valve: The bottom of the body is flat, allowing the fluid to flow without obstruction. This is ideal for slurries or fluids containing solids that might clog a weir.

Industry Applications and Uses

A Diaphragm valve is essential in sectors where cleanliness or chemical resistance is the priority:

  • Water Treatment: Handling corrosive chemicals like chlorine or acids.
  • Chemical Processing: Moving abrasive slurries and highly reactive fluids.

Standards and Technical Specifications

SVR Global Diaphragm Valve is manufactured to meet international quality codes:

  • Size Range: DN15 to DN300.
  • Pressure Ratings: PN10, PN16, and Class 150.
  • Standards: Designed according to ASME B16.34 and tested per MSS SP-88 or API 598.

Inspection and Quality Testing

Each diaphragm valve undergoes strict verification to ensure it is leak-proof:

  • Hydrostatic Shell Test: Ensuring the body can withstand pressure without deformation.
  • Seat Leakage Test: Verifying that the diaphragm creates a perfect seal against the body.
  • Cycle Testing: Checking the flexibility and lifespan of the diaphragm under repeated use.

Why Choose SVR Global Diaphragm Valve?

SVR Global provides a diaphragm valve that prioritizes seal integrity and ease of maintenance. Our designs feature top-entry access, allowing the diaphragm to be replaced without removing the valve from the pipeline. By combining high-grade linings with precision-engineered membranes, we offer a reliable solution that prevents contamination and withstands the most challenging industrial fluids.
