Diaphragm valve manufacturers in USA

SVR Global manufactures diaphragm valves engineered for water treatment, chemical processing, semiconductor fluid handling, and sterile process systems across the USA. Each valve is designed to deliver bubble tight shutoff and a non contaminating flow path suited to sensitive or corrosive media.

What is a Diaphragm Valve?

A diaphragm valve is an apparatus for controlling the flow of media through the pipe that utilizes the principle of diaphragm opening/closing/controlling the flow. This diaphragm keeps the media away from the valve operation components such as the bonnet, stem, or actuator.

Working Principle of a Diaphragm Valve:

The diaphragm is held firmly on the valve body and can be moved up or down depending on how the actuator or hand wheel operates. If the diaphragm is lowered, it comes into contact with a weir or seating surface, which stops the flow. If the diaphragm is raised, then the flow channel is opened.

Types of Diaphragm Valves :

Cast Iron Diaphragm Valve - Suited for standard water treatment and industrial process lines, offering mechanical strength at a cost efficient body material.

Ductile Iron Diaphragm Valve -  Offers greater strength and durability when compared to regular cast iron valves, suitable for higher pressure water and process services.

Electric Actuated Diaphragm Valve - Driven by electric actuators for ease of operation and control by systems.

Pneumatic Actuated Diaphragm Valve - Operated by pneumatic actuators driven by compressed air, ideal for automated process lines.

Diaphragm Valve Body Materials:

Cast Iron and Ductile Iron Bodies

Used for standard water treatment and industrial process applications where cost efficiency and mechanical strength are priorities.

Stainless Steel Bodies

Selected for corrosive media, higher-purity process lines, and applications requiring resistance to a broader range of chemicals.

Lined Plastic and Polypropylene Bodies

Offer chemical resistance for aggressive fluid handling in process lines where metal bodies would corrode over time.

Applications of Diaphragm Valves:

  • Water and Wastewater Treatment - isolation and control across treatment and distribution processes

  • Chemical Processing - handling corrosive or aggressive fluid streams

  • Semiconductor and Ultra Pure Fluid Handling - non contaminating flow control for high-purity process lines

  • Slurry and Abrasive Media Handling - straight through design supports flow with suspended solids

  • Biotech and Sterile Process Systems - sanitary configurations for processes requiring frequent cleaning and minimal fluid retention

Manufacturing Standards and Certifications for Diaphragm Valves:

ISO 9001

Quality management system certification indicating consistent manufacturing processes and documented quality control.

MSS SP-88

Covers diaphragm valve design, dimensions, and pressure temperature ratings specific to this valve type.

ASME B16.34

Governs pressure temperature ratings, materials, and dimensional requirements applicable to valve design.

ASME B16.5

Specifies flange dimensions and pressure classes for flanged end diaphragm valves.

API 598

Covers inspection and testing procedures, including seat and shell testing, for valve verification before shipment.

NSF/ANSI 61

Certifies materials in contact with drinking water, applicable to diaphragm valves used in water treatment and distribution systems.

FDACompliant Diaphragm Materials

Applies where diaphragm compounds (EPDM, PTFE-faced) are used in process lines requiring compliant materials for regulated fluid contact.

3-A Sanitary Standards

Relevant for sanitary diaphragm valves used in processes requiring hygienic design, smooth internal surfaces, and cleanability.

CE Marking

Required for diaphragm valves supplied into projects or markets requiring compliance with applicable European directives.
