SVR Global

Steam Trap Manufacturer in USA

A steam trap is an automatic valve that distinguishes between steam and condensate. In any steam-based system, steam eventually loses energy and turns back into water, known as condensate. If this water stays in the pipes, it reduces heating efficiency and can cause water hammering and can damage the system. An SVR Global stream trap is designed to discharge this condensate, along with air and other non-condensable gases, while preventing the valuable live steam from escaping.

How does a Steam Trap Work?

The operation depends on the specific type of trap, but the goal is always to sense the difference between the fluid states. Some traps react to the difference in density between steam and water, using a float that rises to open a valve when water is present. Others respond to temperature changes, opening only when the fluid cools down to a certain point. A third variety uses the flow velocity and pressure changes to distinguish between the two. In all cases, the valve opens to let water out and snaps shut the moment steam reaches it.

Materials and Construction :

As a stream trap must handle high temperatures and thermal cycling, common materials include:

  • Stainless Steel (ASTM A351 CF8/CF8M): Used for high-pressure and corrosive environments.
  • Cast Steel (WCB): Standard for industrial steam mains.
  • Ductile Iron: A cost-effective choice for low-to-medium pressure systems.
  • Forged Steel (A105): Preferred for high-pressure, small-diameter piping.

Types of Steam Trap :

  • Thermodynamic Steam Trap: It is compact and rugged, these use the velocity of the steam to operate a simple disc.
  • Thermostatic Steam Trap: It is operated by temperature changes; excellent for venting air from the system.
  • Inverted Bucket Steam Trap: It uses a mechanical float (bucket) to sense density differences.
  • Ball Float Steam Trap: It provides continuous discharge, making them ideal for heat exchangers.

Industry Applications :

A Steam trap is essential wherever steam is used for power or heating:

  • Power Plants: Removing condensate from high-pressure turbine lines.
  • Chemical & Refineries: Maintaining precise temperatures in jackets and tracers.

Technical Specifications and Standards :

Our steam trap complies with global engineering benchmarks:

  • Size Range: DN15 to DN100.
  • Pressure Class: PN16 to PN100 / Class 150 to 600.
  • Standards: Designed and tested according to ASME B16.34 and ISO 6704.

Inspection and Quality Testing :

To ensure reliability, every unit undergoes:

  • Shell Pressure Test: Verifying the body integrity at 1.5 times the rated pressure.
  • Operational Test: Confirming the trap opens and closes at the correct set points.
  • Visual Inspection: Ensuring internal mechanisms are free of debris or defects.

Why Choose SVR Global Steam Trap?

SVR Global provides a steam trap engineered for maximum energy recovery and minimal maintenance. Our designs focus on preventing steam loss, which directly reduces fuel costs for boilers. By using corrosion-resistant internals and robust housings, our traps offer a longer service life even in severe outdoor environments. We prioritize quick-response mechanisms that protect your infrastructure from water hammer and thermal shock.
